En la actualidad hemos comenzado el tema 7 de Science "Forces and Movement".



De momento os dejo unos enlaces a diferentes webs en los que poder reforzar y ampliar lo que vemos en clase.

PROCEDURE FOR SOLVING

SPEED and VELOCITY EQUATION:  

speed = distance          OR        v =  d  
               time                                t

Remember that the SI unit for speed and velocity is meters per second (m/s).  (or kilometers per hour km/h)

The best way to learn the steps is to work through a problem.

Problem :  If a cyclist in the Tour de France traveled southwest a distance of 12,000 meters in two hours, what would the velocity of the cyclist be?  

(remember to convert the meters into kilometers)


Problem: A car travels along a road at a stedy speed of 80 km/h. How far will it travel in 2 hours?

                                        (It's not difficult, just remember the division properties!!!)

Hi there!!

Here you have some things related to machines.

Remember the four types of simple machines:


  • The wheel. There are so many types of wheels and so many uses for it...But remember: It reduces friction and it makes easier to move objects (what a pity we don't know the name of the person who created it, can you imagine, for sure a Nobel Prize). 

  • The pulley. It is used to lift heavy objects. A pulley changes the direction needed to apply force.

  • The inclined plane. It makes it easier to move heavy objects. (For example, can you imagine using a wheelchair and fins stairs on your way?? The inclined plane is the solution.

  • The lever.  A long stick we can push or pull a gains a fulcrum to make something move. There are three different types of levers. (see the book to find them). 



Imagine you are at the park, how many simple machines can you see there?
(If you cannot imagine just tell dad or mum that you need to go to the park, jeje).


Now time to brwose the Internet.
